My name is Pau Pericas, I am an audiovisual producer and associate professor at the University of Barcelona and BAU, College of Arts and Design of Barcelona. I hold a BA in Audiovisual Communication from the University of Barcelona (UB), an MA in Contemporary Film and Audiovisual Studies from Pompeu Fabra University (UPF) and I am doing my PhD in Cultural Studies at BAU’s PhD Department (UVic-UCC).
I research about audiovisual creation understood as a means of expression and a form of knowledge, the ethics of images and the position of the filmmaker. Situated cinema is my main interest-a critical, incarnated and localized cinema that is produced from a manifest and from the specific perspective. It denounces power relations and proposes a space of open and supportive negotiation.
In my doctoral thesis, based on a filmic practice, I ask myself when and how the filmic creation can imply academic research, under which conditions does the cinema think and can become useful and transferable knowledge
