This publication includes one part of the collective work process carried out by mothers, BAU teaching staff and students, interns, members of La Asociación Bienestar y Desarrollo (ABD) and one research team. It is a process of collective entrepreneurship, in which a common space of commitments is created. It is a place where illusions, challenges and anxieties are shared without having to renounce the process of child-upbringing.
“A group of mothers gathers every week at BAU, Centro Universitario de Diseño, to participate in a learning process centred on design. But they are not alone: their children accompany them, creating in this way a pedagogical space in which the academic world, the children’s world, the working world and motherhood intersect. Many things happen in each meeting: exchanges of different types (care, knowledge, tools), specific rhythms and times, stories and memories that cannot be seen but are present, dreams and desires, frustrations and, above all, the great impulse to protect and dignify life; their own lives, the lives of their children and of those around them. They are the MAMALYONAS.”
