Inmaterial 14 – Poner en juego la escritura

Academic writing, in its various dimensions, is still a matter of debate in the fields of artistic and design research. Academic journals are still very much tied to certain conventions and requirements of writing that seem to be immovable, contradictory to practice-based research methods, or else become their mere redundant translation.

This issue of Immaterial. Design, art and society brings together four proposals that are propositional examples of writing that is “critical of its own means of representation and modes of knowledge construction” (Calderón García and Hernández Hernández, 2019, p. 32) and of self-determined negotiation (Schwab and Borgdorff, 2014, p. 18).
