Micoli Rispoli PhD

I am an architect, researcher, and professor of aesthetics and art theory in the Design degree program at BAU, College of Arts and Design of Barcelona.

I hold a PhD (Philosophy of Architectural Interior) from the University of Naples Federico II; a Masters’ degree in Museums and Events Curatorship from the IED – Rome; and a Bachelors’ degree in Architecture from the University of Naples Federico II.

I have conducted teaching and research activities at the University of Naples Federico II, at the Polytechnic University of Milan, and at the Polytechnic University of Turin.

In 2019 and 2020 I was a visiting PhD student at the Stadtlabor for Multimodal Anthropology, a research platform of the Department for European Ethnology at the Humboldt University in Berlin.

Since 2022, I have played a role in the organisation and coordination of series of meetings about the relationship between architecture, design, art, and the social studies of science and technology at the Real Academia de España in Rome (RAER), together with Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in Italy, the association STS Italia, the association STS España, and the Sapienza University of Rome.

I jointly coordinate the editorial committee of the Terraformazioni collection, which rethinks design in its more human dimension.

Working at the intersection of architecture and social studies of science and technology, my research focuses on exploring the potential impact of material-semiotic insights from actor-network theory, feminist technoscience, and technical democracy approaches on the transformation of architectural practice and instruction in the same.
