I am Roc Albalat, a researcher, artist, and professor. I hold a degree in Design and a Master’s in Contemporary Philosophy, and I am currently enrolled in a Doctoral Program in Design and Communication at BAU, University Center for Arts and Design in Barcelona.
My work focuses on the realms of image and digital environments. I approach my practice with a critical and archaeological perspective on audiovisual technologies, researching the tools and ideologies of artificial intelligence, and exploring the resources of experimental audiovisuals.
My thesis is an investigation into “the latencies of statistical image,” an inquiry into the recent transformations in visual culture facilitated by the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to processes of vision and automated image generation.
