My name is Serafín Álvarez, I am a visual artist and a teacher. I hold a BA in Fine Arts and an MA in Artistic Production and Research from the University of Barcelona (UB). I am currently attending a Doctoral Program in Design and Communication at BAU, College of Arts and Design of Barcelona.
My work consists of collecting images, ordering them, relating them, thinking them; imagining worlds from them, building those worlds and contemplating them. These processes are usually motivated by a particular interest in how we relate to the unknown, how we study it and how we represent it.
My thesis is a transdisciplinary research oriented towards the design and production of autonomous digital worlds. In these worlds we could simulate biological and social processes, allowing these processes to emerge and develop on their own, unfolding non-predefined narratives in real time.
