BAU welcomes students from all over Europe to the eighth edition of the PRS

From 25 to 29 April, the Practice Research Symposium (PRS) will be held in Barcelona. This event, promoted by the Australian university RMIT, is held in Barcelona twice a year and attracts participants from influential academic and practice institutions across Europe, offering an opportunity for reflection and dialogue between leading practitioners and doctoral researchers in the areas of design and architecture.

Representatives from the BAU research community will accompany and provide feedback on the theses to be presented over the following four days. Under the auspices of BAU’s Doctoral Unit, coordinated by Dr. Alejandra López Gabrieidis, here are some of the highlights:

  • On 27 April at 10:00 am, PhD student Nyangala Zolho will present ‘An Introduction: Hosting policy (making) spaces concerned with inclusion’. Supervised by Dr. Cecilia De Marinis this PhD thesis focuses on emerging forms of policy making, taking into account the role of design in promoting more inclusive innovation ecosystems.
  • On 27 April at 16:00 h, PhD student Alicia Kopf will present ‘Speculative Intimacy. Affects after technology’. The thesis, directed by Dr. Lúa Coderch and Dr. Jaron Rowan, explores the posthumanist idea of intimacy and its link with technologies in the field of artistic research.
  • From 27 to 28 April, Dr. Jaron Rowan -as well as Dr. Alejandra López Gabrielidis- will be in the follow-up commissions of other doctoral theses in the areas of ‘Architecture and Urban Design’ and ‘Design’ in the ‘Milestone and Work in Progress Panels’.

On the other hand, Cristina Goberna, PhD student at RMIT and coordinator of the BAU Summer School, will also present her thesis on 27 April at 10:00 am.
